Once
there was a farmer who was very hard working. He grew paddy in his field and
had rich harvests every year. Unluckily
his sons were easy-going. They never cared to help their father at his work. So
the farmer was much worried about their future. Reaching a ripe old age, the
farmer fell ill. He thought that he was going to die soon. So he called his
sons and said to them, “Dear sons! My days are numbered. Before death I want to
tell you that in the paddy field lies a hidden treasure. Dig it out and share
it among yourselves without any fight. Saying so, the old farmer died.
After performing the last rites of their father, the sons started
digging the paddy field. They dug every inch of it but found nothing. They grew
paddy in the field and the digging led to such rich harvests. They came to know
what the father meant by hidden treasure. They had learnt that hard work is the
key to a goldmine.

Q.2 Penguins are birds of the Antarctic
perfectly adapted to a life at sea. They have given up flight and walk erect
like, on land on their webbed feet or crawl on ice with the aid of their
rudimentary wings. In water it is a graceful and expert swimmer, using the
flaps as paddles and steering with their webbed feet. Just before the breeding
season they come ashore to shed their old feathers. After their new coats of
feathers are full they return to feed and build up reserve food. The King
Penguins lay their eggs in spring or summer. When they hatch after about 7 ½
weeks, they are fed throughout the following winter. The chicks become
independent next summer.
